Linux Software Developer
Datavalet is seeking a Linux Software Developer to develop applications related to current company products as well as future offerings. This is a full-time permanent position in Montreal, Quebec.
Job Description
This person will be involved intensively in C and Python programming and will be working closely with other team members in order to deliver various modules/applications.
Responsibilities
- Write high quality code and draft technical specifications while following company standards and processes;
- Implement network applications in support of innovative company products and technologies;
- Work with management to understand and refine application requirements;
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS fundamentals such as kernel configuration, drivers, application configuration, and package management;
- Excellent skills in C, Python, and shell scripting on a Linux platform;
- Strong knowledge of IP networking and security on Linux including firewalls, routing, security, and hardening;
- Development experience in Linux network;
- Strong analytical capability and strong problem resolving skills;
- Team player;
- Fluency in both English and French is an asset. Excellent knowledge of one of the two languages is mandatory;
Complimentary Skills
Working knowledge of web services (SOAP and REST);
- Familiarity of other programming languages such as Perl, PHP and C++;
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as Joomla or Drupal;
- Working knowledge of SQL
Required Experience
- At least 1 year experience in a software development role;
- At least 1 year experience developing in Linux;
- Experience with Programming, including:C, Python and BASH;
